Official U.S. government documents cite the lobbying of Eduardo Bolsonaro in a $1 million program, about R$5 million, allocated by the Trump administration to fund actions against Brazil’s Supreme Federal Court!
The revelation comes from journalist Mariana Sanches of UOL, who had access to documents from the U.S. government and Congress.
Eduardo Bolsonaro appears by name in the records for his actions with the White House to pressure for sanctions against Alexandre de Moraes.
The money was allocated to a program called “Countering Lawfare and Censorship in Brazil,” aimed at funding organizations critical of the STF.
The selection of beneficiaries, initially open, became restricted. The American justification was to protect U.S. diplomatic interests and avoid the executors facing legal processes.
Even members of the U.S. Congress were unaware of the beneficiaries’ identities!
We’re talking about millions of dollars from the Trump administration allocated to a political operation against a Brazilian institution, on the eve of the presidential elections.
The world needs to know about this international scheme and demand transparency about who would receive the money, which organizations were chosen, and which activities would be funded.
This story needs to cross borders. Brazilian sovereignty cannot be at the mercy of Donald Trump’s political interests and the Bolsonaro family!
